Turkish police have arrested Mehmet Aslan, a reporter to Mesopotamia Agency, after raiding his home.

Mehmet Aslan, a reporter for Mazotamia News Agency, was arrested during a raid on his home in Istanbul.

According to information reported by the Furat News Agency, Aslan's arrest came within the framework of the investigations carried out by the Republican Prosecutor's Office in Antalya, and after searching for about an hour at his home, many of his electronic devices, magazines and books were confiscated.

Aslan was chained and taken to the city’s security directorate.

According to the International RCV Reporters' Rights Report, Turkey ranked 154 out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index 2020 report.

Reporters Without Borders describes Turkey as "the biggest jailer of professional journalists in the world."
