The Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Williams, said that the committee, which consists of 18 members from different regions and political affiliations, will have its main task to discuss the outstanding issues related to selecting the unified executive authority and to provide tangible and practical recommendations for the plenary session of the forum to be decided, noting that the mandate of this commission will be strictly time-bound.

Two and a half months after the start of its work, the participants in the political dialogue forum in Tunis did not reach the expected and planned understandings, except that agreeing to hold elections at the end of next year: as the unification of the executive authority still faces major obstacles due to disagreements over the mechanisms for selecting and distributing leadership positions.
