Iraq.. Security alert in anticipation of possible attack

The state of alert comes after the deployment of "Hezbollah" elements in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in a show nearing the memory of the killing of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, in an American raid near the capital's airport in early December Last January.

In the same context, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi affirmed that he would not allow any transgressions against the state under any heading.

Al-Kazemi added that his government would use wisdom to serve Iraq and the Iraqis.

Meanwhile, security sources in Iraq told Al-Arabiya "columns of Hezbollah and Al-Nujaba began their deployment in Baghdad, which called for intensifying anti-terrorist security services in the Green Zone."

In turn, the leader of the "Asaib Ahl al-Haq" groups, Qais Khazali, said that his groups had no directive to target the US embassy.

Khazali clarified, during press statements, that the bombing of the American embassy is unacceptable and has more harms than benefits, while he considered that military bases are available for resistance, and added that the involvement of what he called "resistance factions" in bombing the American embassy harms its reputation and popularity.

Regarding the operation targeting Soleimani and the engineer, Khazali threatened to "respond strongly to any assault or assassination" of those he called leaders.

Khazali indicated that he felt remorse for the delay in responding to the assassination of the leaders, adding that the Iraqi response to the assassination of the leaders was supposed to be stronger than the Iranian response.

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Muhammad Javad Zarif, in a telephone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart, warned of the "suspicious" US moves in the region, blaming Washington for any new adventure against Tehran.
