The army said in a statement that the helicopter crashed on Saturday, due "technical reasons", in the "Gilgit-Baltistan" autonomous region of strategic importance, as it shares borders with China, Afghanistan and the disputed Kashmir region.

According to the statement, the crashed helicopter was transporting the body of a soldier to the Skardu Military Hospital.

It is noteworthy that frequent accidents by aircraft and helicopters took place in Pakistan, and it is setting records in aviation accidents. In August 2015, 12 people were killed when a military helicopter crashed in the northwest of the country, and in May of the same year, a military Mi-17 helicopter crashed in Telal Gilgit, killing seven people, including two foreign ambassadors.
