KCK: Laila Guven was arrested due to democratic struggle

Co-chairmanship of the Executive Body of the Kurdistan Communities Union, the KCK, has issued a written statement on the arrest of the MP for the Peoples' Democratic party, Laila Goven.

The statement reads as follows:

''It has been well clarified what is being meant by Turkey of reforms, arrest of politicians.

The so-called reforms are enacting new fascist laws, to misguide the public opinion, may some little measures take place to cover such fascist procedures, for instance, after arresting  100 people five would be released to allege that reforms are taking place.   

Statement of the Kurdistan Communities Union, the KCK, noted that Laila Guven was arrested on the background of insistence on the democratic struggle, adding:'' Laila Guven was arrested due to her free will and her insistence on the political and democratic fight, everybody stands up to the anti-Kurds policies adopted by the Development and Justice Party becomes a target by this authority, it is very clear that this authority is punishing Laila Guven for her participation in the 2018 open hunger strike, to condemn the tight isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan held at the Imrali Island Prison. 

It is a revenge, for as she was released, the aim was to be re-arrested again later, as the political immunity was lifted for this purpose''.

The statement stressed that justice and judiciary procedures in Turkey run against the social and international criteria, '' as people are arrested  at the whims of the vindictive Erdogan and on the bases that appease Devlet Behceli''. 

Kurdistan Communities Union, the KCK, called for the increase of the struggle against the fascism and putting an end to the isolation imposed on leader Ocalan:'' freedom of the Kurdish people neither of all detainees would never be met unless am end is put to the fascism in Turkey, for this, it is time to increase fight against fascism and isolation, and for the fight for the sake of freedom everywhere'', as well as calling on all democratic powers in Turkey, women and youths, and all the Kurdish people, to increase fight against fascism and isolation.
