Iraqi MPs call for an extraordinary session of Parliament attended by al-Kazemi

The statement, signed by 28 Iraqi lawmakers, said, "We call on the parliament to hold an emergency session next Wednesday, with the attendance of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, Minister of Finance Ali Allawi, and Central Bank Governor Mustafa al-Jubouri."

The statement added: "The special session that we are calling for will be to discuss the reasons for the decline in the exchange rate and the classification of banks, the fiscal policy followed by the Central Bank and Ministry of Finance agreements with the International Monetary Fund - conditions and obligations, failure of government performance and the state's inability to implement its government approach."

And Iraqi Finance Minister Ali Allawi announced, earlier, that the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar would be reduced, to reach 1,450 dinars to one dollar.

This decision caused angry reactions from citizens on social media sites and some leaders, as the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, declared that “the central bank and all other banks are prisoners of corruption and the corrupt, and the government and parliament must seek specialized methods to end this and liberate it immediately and it is not enough (floating currency) "
