Damascus records the highest number with COVID-19 during 72 hours

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that the areas of influence of the Damascus government are witnessing a very large increase, and a significant upward trend in the numbers of infections and deaths from the Coronavirus, and these areas are witnessing thousands of daily infections, and dozens of deaths that are recorded as deaths from “pneumonia”.

The Observatory confirmed that a doctor from within the areas of the Damascus government reported that about 11,000 confirmed cases of the virus had been recorded during the past 72 hours, in addition to the registration of 650 deaths from the virus.

These numbers, which were recorded within only 3 days, are greater than the official numbers announced by the Ministry of Health of the Damascus government since the entry of the pandemic into the country, as the official numbers estimate the number of infections at 10,195, of which 610 died, while the cases of recovery reached 4,786.

According to the latest statistics of the Syrian Observatory, the number of people infected with the virus within the government-controlled areas amounted to about 109 thousand confirmed infections, of which more than 41 thousand recovered, while 7,150 people died.

The global statistics on HIV infections on the "Reuters" website today showed that 76 million and 413 thousand cases were recorded in the world, while the total number of deaths reached one million and 688 thousand.
