Former members of the so-called "Peshmerga Roj" said that they were misled and deceived. They ordered them to escape from Şengal and forced them to fight in  wars

The issue of the armed group called "Peshmerga Roj" emerged again after its participation in besieging the areas where the fighters of the People's Defense Forces are present. This armed group was established in 2012 on the orders of the Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani. However, all moves of this group indicate that it was established with the purpose of fighting the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Kurdish movements, and the best example of this trend is the war on the city of Xansor in Şengal, and what is happening now in terms of concentration in Garê  Mountains.

Former members of Peshmerga Roj who later joined the Syrian Democratic Forces spoke about the actions they took part in, and about how they were misled and exploited.

Forces were transferred to the areas of Mosul

Mohannad Morjan, one of the former members of Peshmerga Roj, went to Southern Kurdistan in 2013 and worked in the ranks of Peshmerga Roj during the years 2013 to 2018, and at the beginning of his accession, he received training and then was sorted to the Mosul Dam area.

Mohannad Morjan says in this regard: "During my stay in the Peshmerga Roj ranks, I was wondering, if the Peshmerga Roj forces were established for Rojava, then why are we not in Rojava? We were deceived and misled, we went there on the basis of receiving training and returning, but we were sorted and sent to the areas of Mosul, and later we were sent to Xansor."

Xansor district in Şengal was attacked on the orders of the Turkish intelligence and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and on the 3rd of March 2017, Peshmerga Roj attacked Xansour district with the aim of sowing discord among the Kurdish people.

The attack resulted in martyring PKK fighters, and Peshmerga Roj targeted the journalists who were covering the event, which resulted in the injury of the woman news agency's journalist Nujian Farhan in the head, and she was martyred in the hospitals of al-Hasaka city on March 23 affected by her injury.

We were exploited in Xansor

On the circumstances of the attack on Xansor district, Morjan says: "Suddenly, we were sent to Xansor. The plan was drawn up without our knowledge. They tried to exploit us to fight the comrades, seize Şengal from the forces that liberated it, in addition to claiming that they achieved victory and liberated Şengal."

He added: "All the Peshmerga fled from Şengal earlier, and they did not fight there. The plan was to create discord in the area and seize Şengal from the fighters."

Whoever refused the Kurdish fighting got arrested

Morjan said that the Peshmerga directed their weapons at the fighters upon their arrival in Xansor. He added: "The fighters there told us: "We sacrificed martyrs on this land, fought here, and will not get out of Şengal. How do you ask us to get out of here?" After a not-so-long discussion, we stepped back a little. In the early hours of the morning, instructions came to the Peshmerga forces to advance in Şengal, they moved according to orders and the war began. Many fighters were martyred, the battles continued until noon, and later the officers of the Kurdistan Democratic Party held a meeting for us, in that meeting many Peshmerga gave up their arms, refusing the Kurdish fighting, the Peshmerga members who refused to participate in the fraternal fighting and gave up their arms were arrested

The Democratic Party is now seeking to achieve the goals it could not achieve in Xansor by sending Peshmerga Roj forces to the areas of the People's Defense Forces, in this context, Morjan said: "Who are the Guerrilla? They are the people of Qamishlo, Amuda, al-Hasakah and Dêrik. They are the people of this land. The Turkish state always works to eliminate us through internal fighting, and Peshmerga Roj must realize this fact well.

Peshmerga Roj is for Rojava in form, but in reality it is just chessmen

Morjan says: "When I joined the forces, I did not know anything about the Peshmerga Roj, and later I learned through social media about the establishment of the People and Women Protection Units (YPG,YPJ). I should not have stayed within the ranks of the Peshmerga Roj after the forces were established in the homeland, so I decided to defect from the Peshmerga Roj."

There is great misinformation within the ranks of Peshmerga Roj. Even the Peshmerga personnel themselves know that the National Council is selling them. The Peshmerga Roj is not satisfied with the National Council, and they know very well that the National Council deceives them, but the Peshmerga are soldiers, and they cannot take a stand. In the form it seems that the Peshmerga Roj was founded for the sake of Rojava, but in fact it was founded for the sake of the Southern Kurdistan, and they are used as chessmen."

They were used to build houses

Morjan referred to the exploitation and use of the Peshmerga Roj in the personal work of the officers. He said: "They used to use and exploit elements of the Peshmerga Roj in building officers' homes. I saw how one of the officers of the Democratic Party took elements of the Peshmerga Roj in order to work on building his house. They looked at them as workers. They established those forces for Rojava, but they did nothing for it.

In 2018, Mohannad Morjan decided to defect from the Peshmerga Roj, return to the homeland, and join the Syrian Democratic Forces.

History will not forget our abandonment of Şengal

Ahmed Ahmed went to Southern Kurdistan in 2012 and joined the ranks of Peshmerga Roj. Ahmed was one of the Peshmerga present in Şengal during the mercenaries' attack in 2014, and he was among those who fled from Şengal. He said: "The decision to leave Şengal issued by the officers of the Democratic Party. One day, we were instructed to leave Şengal, and although we told them that we did not want to go out, but they did not allow us to stay.

While we were going out, I saw the people of Şengal saying to the Peshmerga, "As long as you are going out, leave us the weapons at least." But the Peshmerga did not give them even a single bullet. History will not forgive our exit from Şengal. The fighters of the People Protection Units, Women Protection Units, Guerrilla and Şengal youth defended Şengal and managed to liberate it, and now the Democratic Party comes and seeks to seize Şengal.

Because of his decision to leave Peshmerga Roj, he was arrested

After leaving Şengal, Ahmed lost his confidence in the Peshmerga Roj forces, and after the battle of Afrin and the positions of the Kurdish National Council, he decided to defect from the Peshmerga Roj, and therefore transferred his decision to the Peshmerga, but he was arrested because of that. He said: "I have been arrested for three months, and during the investigations, they accused me of communicating with the YPG. The fighters of YPG are my cousins and childhood friends, and it is natural to have relationships and contacts with them. After I got out of prison, I have remained under the supervision of Parastin for a full two years."

The National Council sought to implicate us to the Syrian opposition

On the plans of the National Council regarding the Peshmerga Roj, Ahmed said: "The National Council was working to drag us to the side of the Syrian opposition. We all knew that they were linked to the Turkish state, and we used to see that the Turkish intelligence was working to control us, and the National Council was the link. The Turkish intelligence pursued the special warfare in the ranks of the Peshmerga Roj, they used to tell the elements who wanted to go to Rojava that "YPG will kill you," and now I am here and within the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces."
