A Pentagon spokesman said in a statement, "Today, Acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller accepted the resignation of Christopher Meyer, Director of the Defense Task Force on Defeating ISIS in the US Department of Defense."

Mayer has led the task force since its inception in March 2017, and has been responsible for overseeing the development of policies and strategies as well as international negotiations related to the fight against ISIS.
