Ocalan Garden bears witness to resistance

Leader Abdullah Ocalan garden is one of the most prominent landmarks in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, one of the largest neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo, as it was dubbed the Resistance neighborhood.

Its great importance represents a message to the whole world that the resistance that exploded in this neighborhood was victorious thanks to the spirit of sacrifice and redemption that the martyrs had on the basis of the teachings of leader Ocalan.

Those huge sacrifices by the best fighters of the People's Protection Units and Women (YPG, YPJ) in the city of Aleppo in defense of civilians were appreciated and revered by many, for they were the ones who defended the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood and the eastern neighborhoods, along with the Ashrafieh neighborhood, and the youth residence from the clutches of mercenaries.

It was imperative to leave a fingerprint that speaks to the children of the martyrs and the new generation, the epics that laid down the motives and goals that were set and bloodthirsty to achieve them

The first proposal was by the leader of the People's Protection Units, Nuri Yekta, to collect as much as possible of the remaining things that carry the smell of resistance, so he resolved to implement at a time when the smell of burning gunpowder still prevailed throughout the resistance neighborhood, so the garden opened its doors to the people on the fourth From April 2015, after months of work in it by fighters who were martyred on the walls of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and among the martyrs who participated in the establishment of the park are "Firas, Jia, Haidar, Hassan Melis." Where they were martyred at a later time by the resistance of the great neighborhood in front of the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation army.

Garden parts

The garden sits at the foot of a hill overlooking the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and its area is estimated at 7 thousand square meters, and it is planted with fruit trees and roses.

It contains pictures of the martyrs of the resistance of the 19 July Revolution and leader APO's, as it was built with carefully stones, and painted in red, green and yellow colors.

There is also room that contains the memories of the fighters of the People's Protection Units and Women, in addition to the library in which books and pictures of Leader Ocalan placed.

The library includes books in Arabic and Kurdish versions, such as “Manifesto of Democratic Civilization, The Truth of Leadership, The Importance of Training, History of Kurdistan, History of Women, Dialogue” and other books such as “Turkey Files”, all of which are authored by Leader Ocalan.

Between the two main squares, 11 masts were erected, 10 of them bearing the flags of the People's Protection Units and Women, while the rest bore the picture for Ocalan.

People of the neighborhood placed some items in glass boxes carrying in its interior the story of a fighter in all its available details, memories and stories based on the events that began during the period of time extending between 2012 and 2017.

In the boxes there are also memories notebooks inscribed with small details and explaining to many the morale and principles that these sacrifices had.

In addition to that, there are some distinctive or preferred objects of the martyrs, such as the drum of the martyr Ogid, which he used to raise morale on the battle fronts against the mercenaries of the Al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations.

And in honor of the martyr Jekdar Afrin, who loved pigeons, and used to raise them on the fronts of the neighborhood, a special place was allocated in the garden for raising pigeons by the fighters after his death in the battles that broke out in the neighborhood.
