Riester said that the next European Council will consider the issue of Turkey, and may impose restrictions on it because of its unacceptable behavior in Karabakh, according to Agence France-Presse.

During an interview with "France Inter" radio, the French minister criticized Ankara's position on the calls to boycott French products, and said: "Turkey is playing a disgraceful role by exploiting the speech of the President of the Republic or France's positions in order to harm France and the values that France holds."

He added: "We want Turkey to change its expansionist behavior in the eastern Mediterranean with the exploration operations that undermine the sovereignty of Cyprus and Greece."

Riester also called on Turkey to "stop this behavior, especially in North Africa, where weapons are smuggled" and to "stop using the issue of immigration against Europe. We know very well that it plays on that chord, and this is no longer possible."

He pointed out that "this is Europe's rhetoric, not just France's, and this is the reason that once again in the next European Council, the Turkish issue will be addressed to see how we can increase the pressure on it a little more or even much more because Turkey's behavior, especially in what is related to Karabakh crisis is not acceptable."

After a series of disagreements, the European Union condemned the unacceptable provocations by Ankara at the end of October, but postponed taking any decision on possible sanctions to its summit in December.
