On Monday, Arab newspapers focused on the Turkish moves, in addition to the Libyan crisis, and the repercussions of the US election results.

"Erdogan is looking for a new outlet abroad"

The beginning of the Turkish moves, and in this context Al-Arab newspaper said: “After the fighting in Karabakh stopped and the Libyan factions were negotiated in the peace talks, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan found a new outlet in the "Republic” of Northern Cyprus to enjoy the victories abroad that he relied on to cover up the crises. Inside".

Erdogan visited the unrecognized "republic" of Northern Cyprus on Sunday, at a time when the signs of resuming UN talks to reunify the two parts of the island began to take shape.

Followers see that Erdogan sees the unresolved Cyprus issue as a new outlet to continue the euphoria of foreign victories after his direct intervention in both Karabakh and Libya imposed a change in the balance of power on the ground.

They point out that the Turkish president besieged by severe internal crises needs a new front of tension to cover up the escalating domestic crises.

The economic contraction twice in two years has brought the boom years to a standstill under Erdogan, to the point that Moody's credit rating agency has warned several times that the government risks a balance-of-payments crisis after the lira's value fell by about 25 percent this year.

Tunisia-Libyan talks concluded without reaching a unified government

In Libya, Al Bayan newspaper said: “The United Nations Acting Envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, announced, Sunday evening, the conclusion of the Libyan talks that are being held in Tunisia, without reaching the appointment of a unified government.

Williams said in a press conference that talks will continue next week, by default, with video technology, to agree on mechanisms and criteria for selecting "personalities who will assume power in the future."

The first dialogue sessions between the Libyan parties began last Monday in the tourist resort of Gammarth, on the outskirts of the Tunisian capital, through UN mediation, in an effort to reach understandings to end the conflict and arrange for the establishment of permanent governing institutions.

In principle, it was agreed on the date of elections on December 24, 2021, to hold national elections.

Why does Trump change the leaders of the Pentagon?

On the American issue, Al-Akhbar newspaper said: “Significant changes have affected the US Department of Defense in the wake of the defeat of Donald Trump in the presidential elections, to the point that some are talking about a coup that was planned for months to overthrow some of the leaders of the" Pentagon ", giving way to control The US President is on the military establishment, in order to initiate some policies before the end of his time in the White House.

The changes coincided with the appointments of officials loyal to Trump to high-ranking positions in the ministry, and renewed talk about the US administration’s intention to withdraw from the region. Although the last step is difficult to achieve, in practice, given the lack of time and the large-scale bureaucracy in the "Pentagon", it will make, if it happens to happen. One of the Democratic Administration’s plans to redeploy American forces in the region is very difficult.

A few weeks away from the departure of the outgoing US President, Donald Trump, the White House, his administration is working on renewing the narrative of withdrawal from the region, a work that coincided with broad changes that affected the head of the "Pentagon" and high-ranking leaders in it, to be replaced by others that owe more loyalty to Trump and his policies. Is it a coup, a push to withdraw, or just settling scores? The changes, and if the acting Secretary of Defense, Christopher Miller, placed them in the framework of accelerating the withdrawal process from the region, comes at a supposedly transitional stage, where the margin of maneuver becomes dependent on time, and time - as well as the bureaucracy - do not allow the withdrawal of thousands of soldiers with their equipment, for the sake of a goal one its title is embarrassing the incoming democratic administration that  wants at any cost to stay in the region.
