Members of Congress urge Biden to stop military aid to Azerbaijan

The U.S. Congressmen Adam Schiff, Frank Pilon and Jackie Speier sent a letter on the matter to Joe Biden whom media outlets described as the winner of U.S. presidential elections.

According to Congressmen's message, "Armenia agreed to a ceasefire brokered by Russia in order to avoid mass atrocities against the Armenian civilian population, but at the expense of heavy losses, as the war launched by Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey and foreign mercenaries caused a mass humanitarian catastrophe."

The message posted on Schiff's website included: "While we welcome peace, we are deeply concerned about the short and long-term consequences of this agreement which do not determine the final legal status of Karabakh."

According to members of Congress, the new U.S. administration will need to "stop military aid to Azerbaijan whose total value over the past two years amounted to more than $ 100,000,000," as well as resume negotiations within the Minsk Group of the Security and Cooperation Organization in Europe, in addition to the contribution to "determining the future status of Karabakh in a way that guarantees the right to self-determination."
