The victory of Democrat Joe Biden in the presidential elections of the United States of America was of great importance and concern to many countries of the world about the future of American policy that the new president will pursue with the surrounding countries.

Some of them see him as supportive of democracy and a victory for diplomacy over the barbarism of former US President Donald Trump, while some see him as a difficult man who will fuel conflicts in the region amid fears of a new wave of the so-called Arab Spring that toppled many Arab regimes.

Regarding this, the Tunisian political writer and head of the Maghreb Center for Research, Studies and Documentation Majid al-Barhoumi said: “American policy is the same, whether it is related to Democrats or Republicans, but the method of implementing these policies is the one that differs from one party to another, while the Republicans implement their policies by force and show arrogance, the Democrats tend to adopt soft diplomacy, threaten behind the scenes, and show an exaggerated respect for the rulers of poor and vulnerable countries, and even the big ones.

"After Biden's victory, we will never witness Trump's arrogance, but rather we will see an exact copy of the original for Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, John Kennedy and other Democrats, but politics will be the same," Al-Barhoumi said in an interview with our agency.

He added, "Didn't Obama come to Cairo during the rule of the late President Hosni Mubarak and announce the opening of a new page with the Arab and Islamic worlds, but his administration did everything possible to remove Mubarak from power?"

The Tunisian political writer pointed out that “the Arab Autumn project will continue in non-monarchical countries, especially in Algeria and Sudan, which is newly emerging with waves of change, and may include in its second installment the monarchies if it is planned to do so, and the policy of forcing regimes to normalize will continue, but with a slight difference that Biden will show respect for the weak in public."
