This came after the spread of reports and videos stating that Iran deployed military equipment on its northern borders near the battlefield between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The commander of the ground forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Muhammad Pakpour, who was visiting the "Khoda afarin" border area with Azerbaijan, said that the deployment of the forces there was aimed at "protecting Iranian interests."

"The deployment of the ground units has taken place since the first days of the conflict between Yerevan and Baku, in order to protect national interests and provide security and safety for citizens in the region," the Revolutionary Guards' agency, Fars, quoted Pakpour as saying.

It is noteworthy that, in recent days, reports have spread stating that about 30 tanks and armored vehicles have been deployed in the Iranian province of "Khoda afarin", as well as some videos showing the intense military deployment near the border.

Iranian regime officials had repeatedly warned both Armenia and Azerbaijan about the fall of bombs, ammunition and drones on Iranian territory.

On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh expressed Tehran's concern about "bringing extremists", as he put it, to Azerbaijan and demanded that Azerbaijan and Armenia respect international laws.

He said during a press conference in Tehran, that his country "will respond to any exposure to its lands, even if it was by mistake," after shells and drones hit Iranian border villages since the outbreak of the war in Karabakh.
