In spite of calls for a political solution, Turkey trains Accord forces

On Tuesday, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced that its forces continue to train GNA, published photos from trainings that show a Turkish military group trains elements of GNA on how to use the Turkish artillery "M-60" in one of the training camps at the city of Misrata.

In a statement on it's website, the ministry said the train comes within the framework of the Treaty of Training, Cooperation and Military Consultations that Turkey provide to the Libyan Government GNA, but observers believe it is a Turkish maneuver to refrain from internal and international demands that ask for the dissolve of armed "militias" engaged in various criminal actions and put an end to them.  

Last Saturday, the ministry published photos of naval trainings in the city of al-Khumus east of the capital Tripoli, led by Turkish trainers in the interest of Accord Forces, saying it would last for 6 days. 

By this Turkey opposes regional and international political endeavors exerted to find a solution to the political crisis, where the Joint Military Committee's meetings between the two sides look to unify security institutions in Libya and form regular forces, after dissolving the armed groups and dismantling their weapons.

Sala Addine al-Namrush, Minister of Defense in GNA who had come lately from Turkey, announced last month that an agreement between his government and that of Ankara was reached to form a Libyan army.  

Saying that his ministry " started with the Turkish side in implementing programs to form armed forces and develop the army and reshuffle the armed forces and develop aerial and naval defense sections and anti- terror forces and the special ones. 

Adding that " the first training center is ready at the outskirts of the capital Tripoli, and priority would be for forming the army according to the international standards for the young backing force that took part in defending Tripoli", in reference to Operation Volcano Anger" that consists of "militias" from the city of Misrata related to the Muslim Brotherhood organization. 

Turkey tries to prolong the Libyan struggle by obstructing means of reaching a solution to the crisis sweeping the country and costing it huge political and economic losses, with the aim to make use of the country's resources.
