Iran warns Azerbaijan, Armenia after missiles fall inside its territory

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said, Wednesday, that Tehran directed a protest to Azerbaijan and Armenia, after shells fell inside its territory, due to the ongoing fighting between the two countries as a result of the conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that Iran had lodged a formal protest to the two countries, stressing that his country would not condone the security of its citizens.

Zada added that what happened "constitutes a violation of the sovereignty of the territories, destabilization of security and financial losses against our citizens," according to what was reported by the official news agency (IRNA).

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said, "We have asked both sides to take all necessary security measures within the framework of friendly relations and good neighborliness standards, in order to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and not to repeat such unacceptable events."

"IRNA" agency quoted the deputy governor of the Iranian province of Ardabil, Behrouz Nadaei, as saying that the fall of rockets and mortar shells on the border areas of the province due to the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, did not cause any injuries or losses.
