Mitsotakis explained that the summit clearly affirms that improving relations between the Union and Turkey requires Turkey to suspend all unilateral actions.

He stressed that the summit emphasized the consequences that will ensue if Turkey continued its hostile behavior.

The European summit had set December a horizon to review various approaches about Turkey.

While the leaders of the Union agreed at the summit that Ankara should withdraw its ships from the water of Cyprus, similar to its withdrawal from the water of Greece, and if it did not, the sanctions option will be the only one available.

It is worth mentioning that the dispute has intensified between Turkey and several European countries since last August 10 against the background of Turkey's exploration in the eastern Mediterranean.
