Macron to meet Greek Prime Minister to discuss tension with Turkey

According to the French presidency, President Emmanuel Macron will meet with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on September 10 to discuss issues related to the eastern Mediterranean, including relations with Turkey.

The French presidency's statement added that this meeting comes in the context of a summit hosted by Paris, which includes Portugal, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Malta and Greece.

A Greek government official said last week that Greece was in talks with France and other countries to buy combat aircraft.

There is intense disagreement between Turkey and Greece over the extent of their continental shelf. Tensions rose last month after Turkey sent a ship drilling in disputed waters, accompanied by warships, days after a maritime agreement between Greece and Egypt angered Ankara.
