During a UN Security Council session on the situation in Libya, Stephanie Williams explained that she has received support from the United Kingdom, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia.

She said, "They all showed their support for the peace process in Libya, and with all of them I got commitments to help in our mission to bring together the Libyan parties and bring peace to the country."

At the same time, the UN official noted that there is still instability in Libya, and the smuggling of weapons and mercenaries.

And she continued, "The mission is communicating with the Libyan parties, to bridge the gap between them and start the political track."

Meanwhile, Williams noted, "Some want to spoil elections in Libya," adding: "Democracy must be protected, and I salute the efforts of officials there."
