SDC reveals to Hawar outcome of meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry

A joint delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council and the Popular Will Party held a meeting with the Russian Foreign Ministry, following the signing of a joint memorandum of understanding.

On the results of this meeting, Hikmat Habib, the deputy head of the executive body of the Syrian Democratic Council, said to our agency, "The discussion was held with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the political situation in general and the political process in accordance with Resolution 2254 in particular, as well as activating the intra-Syrian dialogue."

Habib revealed, "The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that it will support the participation of northeast Syria in the political process during the next stage, whether at the level of the Syrian Democratic Council or the Autonomous Administration, and they confirmed that they will communicate with the UN envoy not studying directly and with other platforms for this."

Hekmat Habib said, "What we understood from the Russian Foreign Ministry is that they realize that a political solution cannot be achieved in Syria without the participation of all Syrians, especially the Syrian Democratic Council and the Autonomous Administration."

Habib added that Lavrov stressed the right of the Syrian Democratic Council in the political process, and that the solution without that would be incomplete, whether it was in the Constitutional Committee, Astana, Geneva, or any dialogue on Syria.

On the other matters that were discussed, Habib said: “The field situation was discussed in detail, and regarding the Turkish attacks on the areas agreed upon between Russia and Turkey, and we made clear to them that the Turkish attacks are still continuing, especially on the M4 road and the drones that target civilians. The solution to the water problem in Hasaka was also discussed in an urgent and rapid way, as the Russians promised that they would follow up on this issue.
