In conjunction with demonstrations, Damascus gets ready, tends to impose strict measures to confront Corona

The Syrian Ministry of Health said that “it is necessary to raise the level of readiness and investigation to address the Corona virus with 21 cases recorded among contacts of people coming from abroad, indicating that although the number of infections is not large, it is a dangerous indication of some recklessness, the possibility of developing infections, the spread of infection more broadly, and the return to re-imposing strict precautionary measures.”

In its statement, the Ministry warned of “the danger of recklessness and irresponsible health behaviors of some to the safety of their families, their surroundings and society, and to economic and service activity in light of these developments, pointing out that the high infection toll and the development of the epidemiological situation may mean having to return to the application of precautionary measures at the national level.”

The Ministry added that “in the last period, it was able to contain the pandemic with swift measures, and reach epidemiological stability, but that any irresponsible behavior may return Syria to the danger zone, especially with the recent statements of the World Health Organization that the situation of the new Corona virus is getting worse around the world, and that laxity is the greatest danger now in the countries where conditions are improving.”

The Ministry pointed out that “while the countries of the world are doing their utmost to confront Corona, the United States of America and European countries continue to undermine the potential of the health sector in Syria and its capabilities to respond to the pandemic and meet the health needs of citizens by imposing inhumane economic measures on the country and depriving the Syrian people of the most basic rights in obtaining health, which needs a swift intervention by the international community and raising voices loudly to lift these measures.”

This Syrian government’s statement comes at a time when many regions of Syria are witnessing popular demonstrations due to the deterioration of the Syrian currency and the low standard of living, as this coincides with the near implementation of the American Caesar Law that imposes sanctions on the Syrian government.
