Fears from spread chronic diseases in Washokani camp

Despite the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Kurdish Red Crescent providing its services to Washokani camp in light of its lack capabilities, the residents of the camp live in a state of suffering, especially with approaching summer season, and the high temperature rise, in light of the almost complete absence of organizations.

The number of families living in the camp, which was established on an area estimated at more than 600 km2, is located 12 km west of the city center of al-Hasakah, according to the camp administration, 1,862 families.

To accommodate these families, the camp administration, in cooperation with the Kurdish Red Crescent and AA, installed 1,700 tents, and inhabited approximately 12 thousand displaced people.

The administrator of the Kurdish Red Crescent in Washokani camp, Jihan Amer, explained to Hawar news agency ANHA that the residents of the camp suffer from a lack of capabilities and support provided to them, especially with the rise in temperatures,

Providing medical services to the camp is a duty of the organizations concerned

Jihan Amer indicated that the cases of diarrhea are increasing in the camp due to the hot weather. And if the situation continues like this in light of the lack of these services, it will appear after a period of chronic hepatitis cases with more high temperatures.

Jihan Amer stressed that the organizations concerned should provide childhood vaccines to prevent them from contracting leishmaniosis and spraying pesticides to kill insects and reptiles, as scorpions and snakes are spread in the camp.
