KCK: Escalation in Wartê area in favor of Kurds foes

The Committee on Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Communities Union, KCK, issued a written statement to the public opinion, on the last developments taking place in Wartê area, located north of Rawendoz district belonging to Hawler governorate, Başûr, south Kurdistan. 

A statement by the KCK Foreign Relations Committee said, "During the first days of the emergence of the developments took place in Wartê heights, we discussed what is happening with the people of the area, and they in their turn confirmed the seriousness of the situation, and that it does not serve the interest of preventive measures from Coronavirus, as they confirmed their rejection of what the area is witnessing as It is in the interest of the Turkish state, and all Kurdish forces must realize this. "

The statement added: "We transfer the position of our people to public opinion, and we appeal to all members of society in south Kurdistan to stand in the face of these measures, because if this situation develops into confrontations, this will only be in the interest of the Kurds foes, led by the Turkish state and AKP. "

In its statement, the KCK called on all the forces that caused this crisis to withdraw and return to their areas.

It is noteworthy that last March 24, a dispute arose between the National Union and the Kurdistan Democratic Party against the background of influence in the region, where the Kurdistan Democratic imposed its control on the external road leading to one of the heights of Wartê district, and this hindered the movement of the people of Rania and its surroundings between their homes and villages, Including cadres in the National Union, under the pretext of a curfew to confront the Coronavirus, which caused the emergence of the dispute between the two parties.

In order to contain this crisis and prevent its aggravation, information has been obtained about the two parties reaching an agreement to establish a joint military point supervised by the 7th Brigade-Soran infantry in the forces of the Peshmerga Ministry.

On April 9, the Kurdistan National Union sent its forces in the Peshmerga (the 70 units) to be stationed in its previous headquarters and renovated it, after it remained empty in the era of the war against ISIS, but this procedure was followed by a step by the Kurdistan Democratic who also moved his forces with heavy weapons to the area.

In light of these mobilizations, Turkish drones are hovering over the sky of the area.
