Education Body prepares to teach 789,225 students in homes

In order to continue their teaching, the Pedagogy and Education Body is fully prepared to teach about 789,225 in all areas in NE, Syria through lessons will be published by Rojava channel belonging to AA.

With the outbreak of Covid-19 in neighboring countries of Syria, the Autonomous Administration of North and East of Syria since March took precautionary measures to protect the area from infection.

Closing schools to keep students in safety

One of the first measures was that the administration decided to suspend all schools from March 14 until further notice, in order to ensure the safety of students and protect them from the dangers of the Corona virus.

According to this decision, 4,317 schools closed their doors to 789,225 students in all areas of NE, Syria.

Searching for ways and alternatives to teach students

For this reason, and in order to ensure that students continue to receive education, Pedagogy and Education Body of the Autonomous Administration has begun to search for ways and alternatives through which it can help students to complete their teaching at home.

In this context, the co-chair of the Pedagogy and Education Body in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Kawthar Doko, spoke to Hawar news agency (ANHA) about the body's preparations to train students.

Kawthar Doko, at the beginning of her talk, drew attention to the dangers of the Corona virus and said that it poses a threat to the whole world, so AA made its decision to close schools to preserve the safety of children who make up the future generation.

Kawther Doko expressed regret that the teaching process has stopped, but said: "Given the seriousness posed by the Corona virus, schools had to be closed to protect students."

She pointed out that the teaching process was halted in NE, Syria in the first semester with the start of the Turkish occupation, launching attacks on the region and deliberately targeting schools, especially in the cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî/ Tel Abyad.

ꞌ Opening schools at this time is difficult ꞌ

She explained" the opening the schools in this time it would be difficult due to large numbers of the students will be gathered, and therefore such gatherings must be stopped in order to prevent the emergence of the Corona virus in the region.

However, she affirmed the Education Body’s keenness to continue the educational process through what might be called the “home school system” so that students receive their education in homes through satellite channels and the sites of the Education Body.

Videos of lessons will be recorded on Rojava satellite channel

Kawther Doko indicated that they are currently working on this plan by recording videos of lessons provided by specialized teachers that will be published on Rojava satellite channel once it is fully equipped.

She explained that the lessons are aimed at students from first grade to eleventh grade.

Kawther Doko called on all parents to cooperate with the Education and Supervision Body in earnest at home to help them continue the educational process and said: "The students have a great duty in terms of monitoring their children, encouraging them to study and monitor their behavior, and how to further develop the home school."

She pointed out that they are in the Education Body in the process of publishing brochures and special programs to raise awareness and develop the educational sector in this way at the present time.

And concluded her speech saying," the Education Body will follow students through serious steps through councils, communes, and the students ’families.

It is reported that this closure is not the first during the academic year 2019/2020, as it was preceded on October 9, 2019 by the closure of schools in the vast majority of cities in NE, Syria due to attacks by the Turkish occupation of the region and its deliberate targeting of schools.
