Families of martyrs: demolishing shrines is an Ottoman policy to undermine sanctities of peoples

The statement of the co-chair of the Martyrs’ Families Council in the Euphrates region, Aref Bali, came after the mercenaries deliberately broke the gravestones of the martyrs in the shrine of the martyr "Mahmoud Tohmeh", 10 kilometers southwest of the city of Gire Spi/ Tel Abyad occupied.

Bali said in an interview with Hawar News Agency: "There is no need to be surprised by these Ottoman actions that are unrelated to humanity. The shrines of the martyrs in Afrin were destroyed after their occupation. This is what the Turkish occupation also did in northern and southern Kurdistan, when it bombed and excavated the shrines, which is an attempt to break the sacred values ​​of the people of the region. "

The shrine of the martyr "Mahmoud Tohmeh" embraces the bodies of hundreds of Arab and Kurdish martyrs who participated in the liberation of the city of Girê Spi/ Tel Abyad, and in the war against ISIS until it was besieged and eradicated in Al-Baghouz, along with civilian martyrs who lost their lives by the bullets of the Turkish occupation in border villages like the child Sara Rifaat.

Aref Bali pointed out that "the demolition of graves is unacceptable, but that this will only be the fuel for the determination that the peoples of the region arm in the struggle to achieve what the martyrs sacrificed for, for the martyrs are in the heart of every citizen."

Turkey and its mercenaries occupied the city of Tel Abyad and its countryside, in October 9, after an air and ground aggression that killed tens of Syrians, and the displaced hundreds of thousands of them from the areas of Serekaniye/ Ras al-Ain and Girê Spi/ Tel Abyad.
