Jeffrey: Growing incidents between Russian, American military personnel in Syria is disturbing

The statement quoted from Jeffrey during a press briefing on Wednesday as he dealt with the issue of the incidents between the soldiers of the two countries in this region, and he pointed out that their number is still small and they do not happen every day, "but growing them causes concern."

He mentioned that the majority of incidents occurred against the backdrop of attempts by Russian soldiers to advance towards the far northeast of Syria, including Qamishlo city. He added that Russia has agreements with Ankara on conducting patrols in the border areas between Syria and Turkey.

He continued, "Consequently, the Russians have legitimate reasons to move troops to this region, but there are agreements between us (between the United States and Russia) on preventing the clash, and we believe that they are breaking them there in one way or another."

According to the diplomat, the Russian forces do not try to enter the border areas, but rather into the depth of territory where the American and Syrian Democratic Forces patrols are touring.

The American envoy pointed to the high professionalism of the two parties' soldiers on the ground who are praised with the failure of these incidents to turn into something worse, but he stressed that this situation raises a natural concern.
