Girê Spî Council: We provide our services to more than 70,000 displaced

Since the beginning of the Turkish occupation’s attacks on the occupied Serêkaniyê Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî –Tel-Abyed occupied areas, the Council has counted the numbers of displaced persons, and their places of residence, to facilitate the provision of services to them, it coordinated with al-Raqqa Civil Council to build a camp for the displaced in the northern countryside of the city of al-Raqqa to accommodate those who could not rent a house, and temporarily lived with relatives or schools.

According to the Council’s calculation, 70,000 civilians were displaced from the city of Girê Spî / Tel Abyad and its occupied villages after it was occupied by Turkey.

The Council currently supervises directly the situation of the displaced in the camp, and coordinates with all concerned authorities and humanitarian organizations to provide aid and assistance to them.

The camp was established on November 22 of last year and currently has more than 250 families, and the number is increasing, as it is expected to accommodate 1,000 families as a first stage.

The county council currently works with 10 committees, which are "the Committee for Social Affairs, Municipalities, Economy, Women, Education, Health, Protection, Youth, Culture and Art, the Committee for Justice", in addition to forming a committee to follow up on the work of the Council, and the services provided to the displaced outside and inside the camp.

In this regard, the co-chair of the occupied Girê Spî Canton Council, Hamid al-Abd, said, "The council continues its work at the usual pace in terms of monitoring bakeries, distributing seeds and fuel for farmers, and in coordination with AA, it provided heating material to all the displaced from the canton for free, with a provision of 200 liters per family.

He added that the council continues to pay the monthly salaries of all displaced employees, even those who have resided in departments other than al-Raqqa, or who are not based on their work at the present time, to support their families in the difficult conditions of displacement that they currently live in.

The number of displaced people from Girê Spî / Tel Abyad regions and its countryside is estimated at 3,200, according to the canton council statistics.

It should be noted that occupied Girê Spî Council Canton Council was taken from the Ain Issa district as a seat of its work after the occupation of the canton by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on October 9 of last year, following its attack on areas of NE, Syria and its occupation of the cities of Serêkaniyê Ras al-Ain and Girê Spî –Tel-Abyed.
