Algeria: Erdogan takes Tabun's remarks out of context

The Algerian presidency responded in a statement on Saturday to the recent statements by Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and confirmed that Erdogan had taken the Algerian president's statement out of the context.

The  Republic Presidency  announced in a statement today that Algeria was surprised by the Turkish President Erdogan's remarks about the national memory.

The statement said that, on the basis of clarification, Algeria stresses that all the complex issues relating to the national memory is sacred and of specific sensitivity among the Algerian people.

Turkish President Erdogan's statement was also attributed to President Abdel Majeedid Tabun, that was taken out of context on an issue related to Algeria.

Erdogan's remarks do not contribute to the efforts of Algeria and France to resolve memory issues, the statement concluded.
