​​​​​​​Iran ... 170 passengers killed after Ukrainian plane crashed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky confirmed that no one had survived the crash, saying that all the passengers and crew of the Boeing 737 were "killed".

The senior Ukrainian Foreign Ministry official Vasyl Kirillich had given similar information to AFP, about the absence of survivors.

"According to the preliminary figures, there were 168 people on the plane, which was supposed to take a flight between Tehran and Kiev," he said.

Earlier, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent, according to what was quoted by the semi-official student news agency ISNA, said, "It is absolutely impossible that there will be survivors among the passengers" of the flight BS-752 that was flying from Tehran to Kiev.

According to the agency, the crashed plane was carrying 170 people, between passengers and crew.

For its part, the official Iranian news agency "IRNA" said that the air disaster resulted in the "killing of all passengers."

The agency quoted a spokesman for Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran as saying that the plane was carrying 176 people, including 167 passengers, and a crew of 9 individuals.

Iranian state television broadcast scenes from the crash site that showed Iranian Red Crescent rescue teams searching an empty land where wreckage spread.

"We are aware of the press information coming from Iran, and we are collecting more information," Boeing commented on Twitter.
