Fawza Yousif calls for avoiding escalation: region  needs no more wars,

 Tensions  escalated between the United States and Iran  over the US targeting of The Commander of Quds Force  ,Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, killing him on January 3.

 Iran and its pro-groups have vowed to avenge Soleimani's killing, while the United States of America appeared to go on  escalating against Iran, as it was evidenced by the statements  of the  president, Donald Trump, and a large number of senior officials in the  administration .

Many political circles said that Soleimani's death put the region on the crater of an explosive volcano at any moment.

 The repercussions of Soleimani's death, and the potentially serious consequences for the region, are still the focus of analysis by many politicians and stakeholders in the regionظ

In this context, The Executive Member of the Democratic Society, Fawza Yousif, linked the escalating tension in the region with a regional and international conflict over hegemony . she  said: "There is a conflict  for domination between international and regional powers, everyone is working to extend his control and expand his influence in the Middle East." "This escalation in the region, whether between Iran and America, or Turkey and other countries, is one chapter of the chapters of this historic conflict.

'The current escalation does not serve the outstanding historical issues'

,  Fawza Yousif compared the current situation  with the beginning of the last century, saying: In fact, this period is very similar to the beginning of the 20th century, all forces want to draw new political maps that serve their interests, Each force will make for itself a foothold in  the countries facing crisis and chaos, to have a strong position in the negotiations, and to determine the fate of the region in the coming period. She went on "But in the end, the current escalation does not serve the outstanding historical issues in the region, but deepens the crisis and puts it at an impasse," she said.

Events are moving towards a dangerous situation, and if this escalation is not brought under control, it could lead to unexpected consequences even for the forces that are managing this escalation," she warned. 

All parties should work to reduce escalation and calm down, and to determine the use of the  force level , otherwise, the consequences will be disastrous," she said.

Fears over widening rifts between sects and nationalities

Concerning the impact of this escalation between the two sides on the Middle East region, :" Of course, if these reprisals by the U.S. and Iranian sides continue, this will have a major impact on the region, because in every country in the region, there are pro-forces,"  Fawza Yousif said.  Iran, pro-American forces, and this continued escalation could lead to divisions in countries, and  further deepen the rift between the sects and among the people in the region."

She  called on all parties to avoid escalation and spare the region wars, and said: "Once again I repeat: avoiding escalation is the safest way for all parties, because the region is in need of no new wars, the forces are exhausted  as the result of what they have experienced during the last 20 years, as far as the scope of accountability is expanded  "as much as they will have devastating consequences for the region."
