American analysts: US forces in Syria are most likely targets for Iranian revenge

CNN American website quoted from analysts as saying that the consequences of the killing of Qassem Soleimani had not been known yet, but one of the possible targets for revenge was the small American military presence in Syria located in some places miles away from the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces.

And Charles Lester, an anti-terrorism expert, believes that the American presence in Syria has been very weak now, after its size shrank and its impact weakened in terms of credibility and the confidence of the partners in it.

Lister adds, “The allies of the United States in the Gulf, especially Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia can all be the victim to Iranian reprisals, and many American bases in Qatar may be one of the possibilities of the Iranian retaliation.”

The American network quoted from the defense expert Ben Friedman as saying, “What Washington has done is a thoughtless action because its forces in the region are not sufficient to deal with the possible repercussions.”

Friedman added, “I don't think that Iran will start a war with the United States, but you can imagine that there will be a number of provocations against American forces.”

Furthermore, Friedman sees that the American battalion of 500 members in Syria may be particularly vulnerable.
