Euphrates Studies Center: 78.1% of N Syria population prefer learning in their mother tongue

According to a survey by the Euphrates Center for Studies, 78.1% of the population in the northern and eastern regions of Syria prefer learning in their mother tongue within the schools of the Autonomous Administration in northern and eastern Syria.

The Euphrates Center for Women’s Studies revealed, through a press conference, the results of its third survey on the educational situation in the regions of northern and eastern Syria, today, Saturday, in its headquarters in Qamishlo, in the presence of several media outlets.

This is the third annual questionnaire and relates to the educational situation in northern and eastern Syria. Work began in the beginning of September, and work was stopped after Turkish attacks on the regions of northern and eastern Syria in October 9. The questionnaire covered 6532 people from the cities of Derek, Qamishlo, Hasaka and Kobani, and Girkê Legê districts, Amuda, Cilaxa and Tirbe Spiye.

Speaking at the press conference, Director of the Euphrates Studies Center, Suleiman Ilias, spoke: "The center conducted its third annual questionnaire regarding the educational situation in northern and eastern Syria in September, and it was scheduled to continue until December, but it was stopped as a result of Turkish attacks on the regions of northern and eastern Syria."

Then the member of the Foreign Relations Office of the Euphrates Center for Studies Walid Jouli revealed the results of the questionnaire and said: "A questionnaire included 5 questions related to the reality of education, and the first question included whether you prefer education at the Autonomous Administration’s schools or in the regime’s schools, and the preference for Autonomous Administration’s schools exceeded 57.9%.

The second question included whether you prefer education in the mother tongue or not, and the percentage of yes was 78.1%. And another question about how you perceive the educational level of students in the schools of Autonomous Administration, and the answer was good at 33.9%, and another, are you with the necessity of adopting a unified educational curriculum in schools of Autonomous Administration consistent with the various specificities of the region and according to the questionnaire the answer was yes at 83.7%.

This questionnaire is the third of its kind, the first of which is north of political parties, and the second is economic reality.
