Walat Mamo: “Kurdistan liberation needs unity”
Walat Mamo, the member of the Democratic Union Party said, “The interest of the Kurdish people is above all partisan interests,” calling on all parties to unite under joint leadership to overcome obstacles, stressing that the Turkish occupier was working to erase the Kurdish identity whatever partisan names were.

Among the appeals for unifying the Kurdish rank in the face of Turkish attacks, Walat Maamo a member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) noted that the Kurdish issue is under threat if the parties do not lay the partisan differences aside and put the interest the people's interest above all the personal and partisan interests.
At the beginning of his speech, Walat said, “The phase that Syria is going through in general and the Kurdish people in particular requires concerted efforts to stop the Turkish invasion and to get the freedom of the people who have been fighting for decades and centuries.”
“Defending gains through unity is the most important for us to make clear the people's will for all. Then the enemy remains alone, helpless in the face of the people's demands. When this is achieved, we can say that we have reached the threshold of victory and freedom, but we need to step up the struggle to prove our existence,” he said.
As for the working methods for achieving the aspirations of the people, Walat said, “If we go back in history, we find out that all the peoples of the world have reached their freedom's goals thanks to their efforts and the solidarity of their people, without relying on other countries because they will not give up their interests for helping us.”
“The way to Kurdistan liberation lies in believing in the capabilities of the people who will unite under one leadership without asking any help from anyone, we have all the capabilities we need,” he said.
The member of the Democratic Union Party pointed out during his speech that the Turkish enemy had no distinction between parties but targeted the Kurdish nationalism, saying, “The enemy does not fight the parties, but fights the Kurdish people in general. The fascist governments want to repress and fail anything related to the Kurdish nationalism, for example, when it occupied Afrin, the Turkish army set the fire on the olive trees and destroyed the statue of Kawa al-Haddad. These two Kurdish non-partisan symbols were destroyed.”
He ended up pointing out that achieving the reconciliation of the people was above all partisan interests. Mamo added “Let us unite to break the enemy's arrogance and defy it.”
