Human Rights Watch: 200+ children are victims of Turkish invasion of N, E Syria

After the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries launched its aggression against Afrin canton, it committed many crimes and violations against its people in general and children in particular, and recently the Turkish aggression increased on northern and eastern Syria as well as the same crimes against the peoples of the region and their children. The Human Rights Organization in Afrin documented the children who fell victim losing their lives or were injured in the attacks and Turkish invasion of Afrin and northern and eastern Syria.

119 children in Afrin were victims of the Turkish invasion

Human Rights Organization in Afrin documented the names of 119 children in Afrin who lost their lives and were injured as a result of being targeted by the aerial bombardment and artillery of the Turkish occupation, where 32 children lost their lives and 87 others were injured.

In this regard, the Afrin woman Fatima Mosli talked about the details of the injury of her daughter Hevna Hassan with shrapnel in her limbs during the bombing of the Turkish occupation aircraft of the village of Barad in the district of Sherawa, said: A 15-year-old girl's leg was amputated, while my daughter Hevna suffered shrapnel wounds to her limbs and one of the shrapnel damaged her right foot nerve, causing her permanent disability.

"During the attack on Afrin, the Turkish occupation targeted civilians in general and children in particular, and now in northern and eastern Syria, it is using internationally prohibited weapons against children in front of the world," she said.

The crimes of the Turkish occupation pursue children in northern and eastern Syria as well

On October 9, the Turkish occupation launched attacks on the northern and eastern areas of Syria in an attempt to occupy and commit massacres and genocide against its people and displacement, and within 10 days of attacks with all heavy weapons and even internationally prohibited caused massacres against civilians in general and children in particular.

In this context, a member of the human rights organization in Afrin canton, Ibrahim Shekho, said that the Turkish occupation and since he launched attacks on northern and eastern Syria on October 9 and to date is targeting all components of the region, Arabs, Kurds, Syrians and Chaldeans, and many children have been victims of this attack, According to the statistics we have documented so far, the number of children who lost their lives and injured in the recent Turkish attacks is more than 85 children, including those who were victims of international prohibited weapons such as white phosphorus.

Ibrahim asserted that the 11-year-old Mohammed al-Yusuf was clearly showing the marks of burns caused by unusual weapons, and that Amnesty International and human rights organizations had confirmed that his burns were caused by internationally prohibited weapons.

In conclusion, Ibrahim called on human rights organizations to press Turkey to stop its aggression on northern and eastern Syria to save the lives of thousands of children. "If this aggression continues on its current situation, it will threaten the fate of thousands of children and the international community will be responsible for these crimes against children if the invasion does not stop," he said.
