The Turkish occupation army, which bombed a site near the site of US special operations in northeast Syria on Friday, was fully aware that US soldiers had been there for months, according to four current and former US officials, raising questions about the Washington Post. Whether Turkey is trying to push US troops away from the border.

The attack on a US base in the city of Kobani occurred as Turkey continued its offensive in northern and eastern Syria, a partner of the United States in its war against ISIS for years.

US officials believe Turkey has long-term aspirations to control much larger areas of Syria.
