AA chancellor: Constitution must involve areas of N, E of Syria

Dr. Anwar al-Yahya, the advisor of the Autonomous Administration of the North and East of Syria, spoke during a meeting with Hawar news agency (ANHA), who talked about attempts to form a committee to draft a new constitution for Syria and not to invite AA to participate in the drafting processes.

Anwar al-Yahya explained that "the Autonomous Administration of North and East of Syria has shown positive on the subject of drafting the constitution and the meetings taking place in Geneva, and stressed the need to participate in the drafting of the new Syrian constitution as it represents a wide segment of Syrians and all components."

"The constitution is a social contract and all components of the Syrian people must be involved in drafting it," he said. The participation of the Autonomous Administration of North and East of Syria in the drafting of the constitution is inevitable and necessary as stipulated by the UN Security Council in its resolution 2,254 "to form the constitution by the Syrian opposition bodies and the Syrian regime, with the participation of representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East of Syria who were participating in the platform of Cairo, and were present on the Moscow platform.

He pointed out that "the participation of AA in the drafting committee of the Syrian constitution AA in the Geneva understandings on the constitution basket, all the baskets that have been put forward from the Syrian opposition backed by Ankara and its effects on other parties, and its quest to exclude representatives of northern and eastern Syria.

In the opinion of the AA adviser that the situation has changed now and that Turkey is in crisis, especially after the recent agreement on border security, he pointed out that "there is no obstacle left now for the AA and SDC in Geneva and the issue of drafting the Syrian constitution."

Al-Yahya pointed out that "there are parties working to avoid our presence and participation in the process of drafting the Syrian constitution, especially the Turkish state, seeking to thwart the democratic project represented by AA."

"What we want from the new Syrian constitution is to move Syria into a decentralized, pluralistic system that manages all Syrian peoples and components themselves through the model of AA," he said. We are working to disseminate this successful model to all the Syrian territory under the Syrian geographic and societal unity. "

Al-Yahya concluded his speech by stressing the need for the participation of representatives of the peoples of the north and east of Syria in the preparation of the Syrian constitution, stressing that the constitution will not be complete without their participation, so it must participate in it to be a constitution representing the new Syria for all its people and all its components.
