Sit-in activities continue for 8th day in the cities of northern Kurdistan

For the eighth day in a row, sit-ins continued against the Turkish authorities' seizure of the municipalities of Amed, Mardin and Wan, and the removal of the mayors.

Amed

Under the slogan "There will be a day when the people will hold the AKP accountable", the members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HPD) and the people of Amed continued their sit-in in front of the Great Amed Municipality hall for the eighth consecutive day.

Turkish police surrounded the sit-in.

A number of parliamentarians from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, representatives of civil society organizations, representatives of the Socialist Oppressed Party and many people participated in the sit-in.

The sit-in continues, with applause, chanting the slogan "There will be a day when the people will hold the AKP accountable."

Mardin

In the city of Mardin, the sit-in of parliamentarians of the Peoples’ Democratic Party continues for the eighth consecutive day. The parliamentarians moved their sit-in from the HPG building to Qarayoler park.

Turkish police cordoned off parliamentarians, leading to verbal arguments between parliamentarians and security forces. The police also prevented journalists from covering the sit-in.

Despite the harassment of the security forces, parliamentarians continue their sit-in, while security forces prevented people from approaching the sit-in.
