Arab newspapers touched on the negotiations between Washington and Ankara over the so-called buffer zone in addition to the tension in the Gulf region and the successive economic crises in Turkey.

The Arab press was busy this week with the follow-up of the US-Turkish negotiations on the buffer zone in Syria. In this context, the newspaper Asharq al-Awsat said: "Ankara revealed the failure of the round of talks conducted by US Special Envoy to Syria, James Jeffrey, for three days to make any progress on the agreement on the details of the proposed buffer zone north-east of Syria. the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the new US proposals on the buffer zone do not satisfy Turkey, accusing the American side of procrastination.

While sources in the US State Department refused to comment on Jeffrey's visit to Turkey, ministry spokesman Michael Lavalley said Washington had repeatedly reiterated that its dialogue was continuing with the Turkish government to address its legitimate security concerns in northeastern Syria. and added "With regard to the issue of the city of Manbij in particular, we have accelerated our joint efforts and continue to make progress in the road map, which reflects our common cooperation in the issue," he said.
