Mustafa Eto: IS takes last breath, searching for abductees is our priority

Mustafa Eto, the co-chair of Kobanî Canton Council, said that IS mercenaries are taking their last breath thanks to the sacrifices made by the heroes of the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF) from Kobanî to Deir ez-Zor. He hoped that the abductees would be released from IS and returned to their families safely.

SDF are besieging IS in its last pocket in al-Bagouz on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River near Deir ez-Zor. IS has only about 700 to 800 m2. The alleged caliphate mercenaries since announced 2013 would come to an end militarily.

However, the question is about the fate of the prisoners and detainees of civilians at IS’ hands over the past five years, as the fate of hundreds of people IS has arrested since 2013 is still unknown.

Mustafa Eto, said in a statement to Hawar News Agency, commenting on the issue, "We in the administration, have been trying to liberate them from IS since the beginning of their detention, and hope that they are alive and freed and reach their families safely."

He added, "Kobanî was the starting point for victory over IS and today it is taking its last breath in a small area thanks to our efforts and the blood of our sons and daughters."

Eto stressed that the struggle against extremism in the region will continue and the war against the intellectual roots of extremism and intolerance continues.

He added that all peoples are siblings in Syria, of which we are a part. Syria is a country of civilization, multiculturalism and tolerance.

He concluded by saying "After this imminent victory, we seek to eliminate the extremist thought and all those who try to destabilize security and stability and our goal is a better Syria for all its people and to spread culture of acceptance of the other."
