Mass demo of teachers, students of Kobani denouncing conspiracy against Ocalan

Tens of thousands of teachers and students from various villages and towns of Kobani canton gathered in the city center and marched out in protest against the 1999 international plot against Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan as the 20th anniversary of the plot led to the arrest of leader Ocalan.

Students from 430 schools in the canton, including 15 large schools in the city, attended the demonstration, marching for more than 1 kilometer inside the city.

The Internal Security Forces and the members of the Community Protection Forces, undertook the assuring security and protection during the demonstration.

The demonstrators marched through the city with banners reading: "Keep up the resistance of Leyla Guven and free leader Apo. International silence is a disgrace to humanity." There is no international action towards hunger strikers in Turkish prisons demanding lifting isolation of Ocalan.

After arriving at the square of "Martyr Agid" near the Turkish border, the demonstrators gathered again to give the teacher Ruken Mohammed and teacher Faisal Mayouf a statement in Arabic and Kurdish, which stated:

"As is well known, 20 years ago, leader Abdullah Ocalan was arrested in an unprecedented international conspiracy and imprisoned in Imrali Island under very harsh and dangerous conditions as a hostage. The conspirators and the oppressors believed that by doing so they would make the Kurdish people kneel down. But the conspirators and tyrants did not know that the Kurdish people are no longer the people that can be subdued by intimidating them and burning their children and making them watch silently as they prepare the halter for their leader. The Kurdish people are no longer that miserable people waiting for their unknown fate.

Today, on the footsteps of these courageous heroes and martyrs, and starting from Leyla Guven, Nasser Yakhiz, Imam Shishin with iron will who stood in the face of the isolation imposed by the occupiers and conspirators against the leader of the Kurdish people and despised in their struggle.

The world must be ashamed of its silence. How long will it turn a blind eye to the truth and go on like the blind? How long will the world remain deaf, and escape the reality of history? Where is the voice of the United Nations, the voice of human rights institutions in the United Nations?

February 15 marks the anniversary of the 1999 international conspiracy against leader Ocalan that led to the arrest and surrender of Ocalan to the Turkish government, which has been under severe isolation for several years in Imrali prison.

The city of Kobani and a number of its districts have witnessed events condemning the plot a few days ago, as these events continue until the 15 February, where the city of Kobani will witness a massive demonstration.
