The Syrian Democratic Council (Aleppo Office) held a dialogue forum on Thursday morning, and 67 independent and educated personalities, the parties' members and heads, religious figures (Christians, Yazidis and Muslims), as well as representatives of Banu Sha'ban, al-Bagara, Bani Zeid, Khafajah, Benawi, al-Jissat and al-Tai clans attended the forum that was held under the slogan "Towards Democratic and Decentralized Syria."

After reading the telegrams sent to the forum and delivering a speech by the co-chair of MSD office in Aleppo Meri Shibli, the forum continued by showing a documentary film prepared by Rojava Center for Strategic Studies named "Afrin Scream" which presented the practices of the Turkish occupier in the occupied areas.

Then, the member of the Syrian Democratic Council – Aleppo office Joseph Qeblan read the political view of MSD about the second item of the forum, which included,

"The social and national cohesion in Syria attracted the attention of the rapacious countries to dismantle this cohesion and collapse it, and that led to fabricating the crisis in Syria. The Turkish policies exceeded the stage of spreading terrorism and supporting it to be present directly on the Syrian territories with the help of the terrorist factions to achieve the new Ottoman dream using the same colonial methods. It is no secret that what these factions are practicing violate the human rights. The violations committed in Afrin by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries were also addressed.

After that, the discussion began by the political and cultural figures. They pointed out that the return of Adana agreement is not only a security, but also to dismantle the moral fabric of the Syrian people's components, and that Turkey wants to turkificate Afrin and change its demographics. They added, "The Turkish occupation of the area aims at undermining the democratic project that is trying to make Syria decentralized so the people must unite against the Turkish goals."

Women have important role in the forum

The discussions also touched upon the women's role as the participants said, "We talk about women's freedom and their societal balance with men in addition to their standing against the murderous mentality. Women mean the administration, peace and security, but unfortunately, they have become a commodity due to the masculine mentality. In the Syrian revolution, women have been the victim."

The speakers also touched upon the women's resistance in north Syria saying, "Amid Kongra Star's existence, women organize themselves through self-awareness without distinguishing between the components or sects. The women also organized themselves militarily through the formation of Women's Protection Units (YPJ) which have been fighting IS mercenaries so far."

The final word

MSD Dialogue Forum concluded with a closing speech given by the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (Aleppo Office) Fahima Hamo who said, "Over history, the Syrian women have been the main element to support the opposite sex in life hand in hand. When we say women, we mean life and freedom."

In the end, Fahima said, "The Syrian crisis has created the Syrian women's suffering. Women were directly affected as the crisis left negative effects on them; kidnapping and robbing of their freedom. However, women did not stand idly by, but resisted to work hard and organize themselves in all domains to raise the pace of the societal struggle."
