Martyrs Viyan Soran, Şiyar Gabar commemorated in Dêrik

The International Fighters Battalion of Women in coordination with Kongra Star organized a commemorating ceremony for the martyr Viyan Soran in Dêrik district in Qamişlo canton by the 13th anniversary of the struggler Viyan Soran's martyrdom as she set fire on her body protesting the arrest of the Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan and the martyr Şiyar Gabar who martyred in Kurdistan Mountains and he was from Armenian origins. 

The ceremony was organized at Dijla Center for Culture and Art in Dêrik, and dozens of women and female fighters of the International Battalion and Women Protection Units (YPJ) attended.

After holding a minute of silence, the administrative member in Kongra Star Fatma Suleiman delivered a speech and rejected the isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan. She continued, "The struggler Viyan Soran represents the voice of the free women all over Kurdistan. On this basis, Rojava Revolution has become the free women's revolution."

Fatma pledged that they in Kongra Star will escalate their struggle till women are liberated and women and all humanity's values are defended.

During the ceremony, a short film about the martyrs Gabar and Soran and their activities within Kurdistan Freedom Movement was shown.

The commemoration ceremony ended by chanting the slogans that glorify the martyrs and demand to end the isolation on the Kurdish people leader Abdullah Ocalan.
