50 bodies were retrieved from cemetery of al-Fekhikha in al-Raqqa

The Initial Response Team of the Rehabilitation Committee in al-Raqqa Civil Council continues to retrieve the bodies from the rubble of the houses and mass graves in al-Raqqa. The team retrieved some 50 bodies from al-Fekhikha cemetery, the eighth mass grave discovered in the city of al-Raqqa since it was liberated by the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF).

After the Initial Response Team recovered the bodies in al-Panorama area of al-Raqqa, the team moved to al-Fekhikha cemetery, the eighth largest cemetery in al-Raqqa, south of the Euphrates River.

The team has recovered about 50 bodies from al-Fekhikha cemetery so far, but the team has had great difficulties in exhuming because of the primitive tools it uses during the exhumation, and the depth of the drilling that IS has dug.

Forensic doctor Asaad Mohammed said, "The team retrieves the bodies from the graves and puts them in bags and gives them a special number, and then if the body is not identified, they are transferred to a special mass grave 20 km from the city of al-Raqqa in Qesra Sheikh Juma village, and if the parents know whose body it is, the body is handed over to their families and help them bury the body in legitimate ways. "

Asaad said: "The team within four days retrieved fifty bodies of civilians, militants and newborn children."

It is worth mentioning that the cemetery contains between 600 and 800 bodies. The cemetery is the eighth largest cemetery found by the Initial Response Team, since the liberation of the city by the Syrian Democratic forces from IS.
