Elham Ahmed to Bloomberg: We want decentralized Syria

The American agency "Bloomberg" conducted interview with the Co-chair of the Executive Council of the Syrian Democratic Council(MSD), Elham Ahmed,  in Washington, where Elham talked about the Syrian Kurds seeking to hold talks with the government.

In her interview with the US agency, she stressed the need for dialogue with Damascus, in addition to the importance of combating mercenaries supported by the Turkish state.

In response to the so-called "buffer zone", she said that such a "buffer zone" would not be safe for Kurds and all the components of northern Syria, but would become a "swamp of terrorism."

Elham stressed that they would resist if the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent his troops and added, "We can protect the buffer zone ourselves and we will defend ourselves."

Regarding negotiations with the Syrian regime, Elham Ahmed said: "We want unity of Syria, we do not want separation, we want a decentralized Syria."

Elham Ahmed said she was in Washington "to hear assurances and explain our point of view." She said, "what I heard from the Americans suggests that they "have not set a deadline for withdrawal yet."

She said Americans must try to help find a political solution to the conflict between Turkey and the Kurds.

She warned that if the Kurds are excluded from any Syrian settlement, there may be "another wave of violence."
