Pederson meets al-Moualem in Damascus

The UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, started his visit to Damascus on Tuesday, where he met with the Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem, where he discussed with him the political path of the Syrian crisis according to SANA.

The Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem discussed with the UN envoy to Syria Pederson on Tuesday the efforts made to progress the political track of the crisis in Syria and follow up the ideas related to the political process.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, "Al-Moualem assured his guest Syria's readiness to cooperate with him to make his mission a success to facilitate the Syrian-Syrian dialogue with the aim of reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis which is in the interest of Syria."

SANA new agency said, "The Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Walid al-Moualem received on Tuesday the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria and the accompanied delegation. During the meeting, they discussed the efforts exerted to make progress in the political process of the crisis in Syria and follow-up the ideas related to the political process.

Pederson arrived in Damascus on Tuesday morning after his plane landed there on Sunday evening.
