Clashes among Turkey’s mercenaries; Jabhit al Nusra controlled new areas

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the continued fighting between two of Turkey's biggest and most heavily armed mercenary gangs in the Turkish-occupied territories, the National Liberation Front and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which caused heavy casualties on both sides.

The observatory pointed out that the mercenaries of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham managed to achieve progress at the expense of the mercenaries of the "National Front", as it took control of the town of Daret Azza, which is the second largest towns in the western sector of Aleppo countryside, as well as a number of checkpoints and areas surrounding it and the roads leading to the town.

The fighting broke out when the mercenaries of "al-Zinki" shot five mercenaries of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham a few days ago in Telada area.

The Syrian Observatory revealed that the fighting on 01 January 2019 killed at least 14 mercenaries from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and 12 mercenaries of the National Front, as well as the capture of 10 mercenaries from al-Zinki and the National Front, including some wounded and information of capturing mercenaries from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

The Observatory also documented 5 civilians, including two children, losing their lives as a result of fighting for influence, which aroused resentment among the population who condemned the rivalry between the mercenaries of Turkey.

On another front, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored further breaches which reached the zone of the Russian-Turkish truce.

The regime forces targeted areas in the outskirts of al-Arbaen village in the northern countryside of Hama. It also monitored areas in the vicinity of al-Bweida village in the same countryside, targeting Hasraya area, and in the villages of al-Jisat, al-Sakhar and the surrounding areas of al-Latamna in the same countryside.
