They work on city's protection, preserving its security

After the liberation of al-Raqqa city by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for more than a year, life was backed to its normal in all domains. Women have begun to organize themselves again and played a leading role in the society. After it was forbidden for them to go out alone, the women in al-Raqqa have been playing an important role in protecting the city from any danger it faces and protecting women's rights.

The Internal Security Forces have been formed 15 days after the liberation of al-Raqqa city. Then, the women began to join the ranks of the Internal Security Forces, but the participation rate was very few due to the practices of IS' mercenaries for four consecutive years, and after more than a year, the proportion of members of the Internal Security Forces reached 260 Member.

The Internal Security Forces have a number of specialties, including crime control, surveillance, investigation and raid, as well as traffic as women are considered to be the leaders.

Moreover, when they join the ranks of the Women-Internal Security Forces, women join the training courses and receive intellectual trainings on the freedom of women and the democratic nation, not to mention the military trainings.

The female members also stand at the checkpoints inside the city and at the entrances to protect the city from the dangers that beset it. In this regard, the member Rim al-Ali pointed out that she stands at the checkpoint for the safety of civilians and to maintain the security of the city after its liberation from IS' mercenaries.

She noted that women in al-Raqqa and after their liberation began to play their leading role in all spheres of life, and broke the fear barrier planted by IS mercenaries within them.

"We are working to protect our city that was liberated by virtue of the blood of the martyrs, especially the fighters in Women Protection Units (YPJ)," the member Bushra Omer al-Berjes said.

The administrator Menal al-Omer in the General Investigation Department of the Women-Internal Security Forces said, "The Women-Internal Security Forces conduct the raids in coordination with the public security or the patrols to control any circumstances in the interest of the people."

Menal al-Omer indicated that they receive all complaints concerning women and provide appropriate solutions to them in proportion to the view of the society that suffered the woes in the result of the occupation of the mercenaries.

While the member Kifah Mahmoud confirmed that they initially suffered from the male mentality, but more than a year after the liberation of the city, a big difference has been witnessed, and the turnout to join the Internal Security Forces has intensified.
