Violence cases constitute barrier to achieve equality, fulfill women's rights

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) pointed out that the cases of violence against women constituted a barrier to achieve equality and fulfill women's human rights, which led to depriving women of their most basic rights. All women in the world called to cooperate closely, unite their efforts and continue their struggle to break the silence towards violence practiced against them, during a statement.

On the occasion of World Day of Combating Violence against Women, the Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement that included,

"On the occasion of the World Day of Combating Violence against Women on 25 November each year, the world celebrates its various rights movements and women's organizations this day, organizing women's activities that aim at eliminating violence against women with all its forms.

This day comes as a positive case to highlight the issue of violence against women in the world and their suffering despite the fact that all international laws issued by human rights organizations called for preserving the sanctity of women and their rights in the same way as the other gender.

However, cases of violence against women continue to be a barrier to equality and the fulfillment of women's human rights, a strong manifestation of unequal relations between men and women in history that has led to a gender-based societal and cultural discrimination which has reduced women's power in her personality and denied her of the most basic rights.

We call on all women in the world to cooperate closely, unite their efforts and continue their struggle to break the silence about violence against them."
