Sheikh Maqsoud Women: We broke violence against women with organization, resistance

The women in the neighborhood of al-Sheikh Maqsoud confirmed that women's resistance to the mercenaries' attacks on the neighborhood has broken the concept of violence against women, asserting that by liberating women, the family and society would be free.

Al- Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo is known on behalf of the struggler "Koli Salmo" neighborhood, the member of Kongra Star who was martyred in 2012 and whose memory still remains in the minds of women and residents of the neighborhood.

Koli's resistance to the enemy's mentality was enough to make the women of the neighborhood revolt and transfer their voices to the world. They organized women from various components and played their historical role alongside (Women Protection Units) YPJ fighters against the most violent attacks on the neighborhood.

As 25 November, the World Day of Combating Violence against Women approached, ANHA agency met with many women in al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood who had resisted and revolted against the attacks.

Rangin Abdu, One of dozens of women who resisted the mentality of the enemy and struggled against the Coalition's mercenaries in the neighborhood said, "The neighborhood has been attacked several times, and the women in the neighborhood resisted the mercenaries in all aspects of women's organization. They took up arms and defended the neighborhood alongside the fighters of the Women Protection Units, and we wanted to thwart the mentality of the enemy and break it with the will of women."

The resistance of al-Sheikh Maqsoud's women broke the concept of violence

The administrator of the Martyr Gulhat commune, Ghada Adnan referred to the women's resistance against the male authoritarian mentality that aims at violence saying, "Women faced many obstacles in the society, but despite all the obstacles, they have broken all the chains imposed on them.

As women of the neighborhood, we organized ourselves in the neighborhood to protect our families from the mercenaries. We faced the hardship. Our resistance was a goal of women's freedom. She added, "It could be said that this resistance broke the concept of severity in itself."

Ghada Adnan pointed out at the end of her speech that women have resisted all plots until now, and the philosophy of Ocalan is a source and reference for every woman facing violence.

With organizing women, they overcame attacks

"Since the beginning of the revolution, women have played a key role in all aspects. During the years of fighting and war against al-Sheikh Maqsoud, we have worked to organize and develop women to face attacks, and so far, we have been working to create gender equality," the citizen Fatima Wahid said.

She noted, "For more than 5,000 years, women have been waging their revolution to liberate themselves from the slavery that is still threatened by violence in the male society," she said, noting that by liberating women, the family and society are free, and the freedom of the society is breaking the authority.
